Bisque head with bright blue eyes F. Gaultier, painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with accented lips,blonde mohair wig, on block torso with shaped humps at front and back torso, bisque hands, paper mache lower legs with shaped upturned toes on shoes. Comments: Polichinelle, the popular French figure of stories and legends in the 19 th century; several French firms specialized in creating dolls of this popular figure, circa 1880-1890. Value Points: wonderfull preserved example wearing his original rose and aqua Polichinelle costume and hat trimmed with gold metallic fringe and braid, little bells.

Porcelain swivel head with flat-cut neck socket on matching porcelain shoulder plate, slightly pink tinted complexion, painted rich blue upper glancing eyes, painted all-around lashes, black upper eyeliner, lightly feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth, accent line between the lips,blonde mohair wig over cork pate with original Rohmer stringing- pin in pate, softly-stuffed Rohmer body with original sitting pull-strings in torso, wooden ball-jointing at knees, porcelain arms to above the elbows. Leontine Rohmer, circa 1858. Value Points: gorgeous poupee with pert smile is enhanced by very rare to find Rohmer deposed body features, and wears beautiful antique costume of the era.

Condition: the doll has a hairline on the side of the neck, and on the shoulder plate. One little finger is restored.
